The ASFU Fixer makes your Power Macintosh, Macintosh 660AV or 840AV serial ports compatible with the GDT PowerPrint high speed serial-to-parallel converter. However, if this extension is installed, it breaks serial communications between the Macintosh and several Apple MessagePad applications and tools such as the Newton Connection Kit, Newton Toolkit, Newton Press, and Newton Package Installer. It may also affect Newton Backup. It addresses a problem printing to Portable StyleWriter driver v1.0.1 where the user would get error messages from Spool Master stating that it is having problems communicating with the Portable StyleWriter. There is one caveat when using this extension: when placed in the Extensions Folder, it patches the current GeoPort serial driver to make it "compatible" with the serial-to-parallel converter cable used by the Portable StyleWriter. With the driver "patched", this may cause problems with other applications that use the GeoPort serial driver. If you have ASFU Fixer installed, you should remove it and use Apple's SerialDMA extension instead. Unnecessary in System 7.5.3.
